My Policy Platform for Teton County

Why I’m running for County Commissioner

I’ve had the honor of serving as Commissioner for the remainder of a vacated term since May of 2025. In my time in office I’ve enjoyed the relationships I’ve built with staff, constituents and community partners. I’ve been challenged by the difficult decisions we make regarding budgets, land use and personnel. I’m ready to serve a 2 year term, which will be my last.

My primary goals as a Commissioner are pretty straight forward:

Ensuring growth pays for the costs of growth

We know the County is growing. Unfortunately, the tax revenue from rural growth doesn’t pay for the increased costs of providing services.

Fair impact fees, requiring road improvements from developers, and fee structures that meet our actual costs all need to be continually assessed, updated and advocated for. We need to be sure that our great Wyoming neighbors continue to pay their share. I have been and will continue to make this a top priority.

Transparency and Great Communication with Residents

County government has to be run in an open manner, save for a few statutorily required exemptions.  Open meeting laws need to be followed.  And our County government needs to communicate openly with our residents.  Above all we’re a service provider, and we need a top priority to be helping people get done what they need to get done.  We need to build trust with the public across all our departments, including law enforcement.

Helping the Agricultural Community Stay Viable

Lots of challenges on this front, but continuing to work on Family land split exemptions is one emphasis. I’ve enjoyed working with the water users as well to facilitate their return to a traditional water use pattern which can help raise aquifer levels, ensuring a healthy river and water in our wells.

Meeting the Housing Affordability Challenges Head On

This has been the biggest change the valley has seen in the last 10 years, and it challenges us in many ways. Working families can’t afford to live here, people are stressed over unstable rental conditions, and businesses struggle to keep employees. The Housing Trust is making in roads, but needs more funding. And we need to work with the Cities to ensure that private market options continue to grow, and that we incentivize workforce housing.

These are my main goals, but there are dozens of others

Protecting wildlife habitat, making sure we have a hospital that serves our community, improving and maintaining roads and other transportation options, growing options at the Fairgrounds, improving access to public lands, addressing weeds, providing law enforcement, our issues are relentlessly interesting and challenging. I look forward to serving Teton County for 2 more years.

I like to say that this work is relentlessly interesting

Your support can help me keep doing it.
