38 Years in the Valley.
20 Years of Service.
2 More Years to Secure our Future.
I’m Dan Powers and I’m running for one last term as County Commissioner to finish the job I started in 2025- ensuring growth pays its way, protecting our agricultural roots, and tackling the housing crisis in Teton County head-on.
Focused on the Issues that Matter Most
Teton County is changing fast. We need leadership that understands the technical details of land use and the human reality of living here.
-
Ensuring growth pays its own way through fair impact fees and developer accountability.
-
Funding the Housing Trust and working with cities to create real options for our workforce.
-
Protecting family land split exemptions and restoring traditional water patterns for a healthy aquifer.
-
Running an open government that treats residents like neighbors, not numbers.
A Lifetime of Building Teton County
In 1984, I came for a winter and stayed for a lifetime. From working construction crews to running Powers Builders Inc. for 30 years, I’ve seen this valley from every angle. I’ve served as your Mayor, your Planning & Zoning Chair, and now your Commissioner. I’m not just familiar with our codes and budgets—I helped write them.
Municipal Experience
Driggs Planning & Zoning (late 90s - 2004): As Chair, I led a volunteer board through the massive undertaking of re-writing the City Land Use code.
Mayor of Driggs (2009 - 2013): Elected during the height of the economic recession, I focused on economic resilience and key infrastructure, including the Main Street reconstruction and the Geotourism Center.
Urban Renewal & Water Rights: I chaired the Driggs Urban Renewal Board for four years and have worked closely with the Teton Basin Water Users to protect our local aquifer.
Teton County Board of Commissioners: I was appointed to fill a vacant seat by Governor Little in April of 2025, and have served on the Eastern Idaho Public Health, and Teton Basin Water Users boards.
